What makes a strong assignment?
-When the objective is clear
-It's organized
-When it challenges a student, but doesn't challenge them so much that they get discouraged
-When it can somehow relate to the student's life
-When it allows a student to be creative
What do you want on an assignment sheet for it to be most helpful/successful for you?
-When the objective is clearly listed; it's not vague to where I don't understand what the professor wants
-Specific directions
-The due date
-The style/format preferred is listed
-The length that the assignment needs to be
-Rubric
-An example of the assignment done by a previous student
What is the least amount of guidance ever offered to you via an assignment sheet and what are the characteristics of one that has been most successful?
-Worst: I can't think of a specific example, but there have been plenty of assignments given to me in college where I had absolutely no idea how to complete it, and there is nothing more discouraging than that. We either never went over the materials of the assignment in class, or the directions are just flat out confusing to where I don't even know where to start.
-Most successful: One of my education professors use to show us examples of the same assignment done in previous years, and I find this to be most helpful, so I know exactly what the professor wants, what counts as an A, what falls below an A, etc. I found this extremely helpful when I had to create lesson plans for teaching.
